The media is reporting that the government is preparing to execute the convicted terrorists who had already been awarded death penalties by the trial courts but were still breathing because of Prime Minister’s temporary moratorium placed on executions.

The reports said that Punjab is preparing to hang at least 17 terrorists in next 7 days while prisons in Sindh are also preparing to execute the convicted terrorists in Sindh’s prisons respectively.

The security of the prisons where terrorists are kept is also tightened after an alert of possible jail break attacks was issued.

The army chief General Raheel Sharif also signed death penalty warrants of at least 6 terrorists convicted for severe crimes by the military courts.

Some of these are the terrorists that have enjoyed support from sections within the state while others have previously walked free by cutting deals through hostage situations or broke out through jailbreaks. For now, it seems, there’s no escape.
